The National Rivers Authority is a public body whose task is to protect and improve the water environment in England and Wales, and provide protection against flooding from rivers and the sea. Created under the Water Act 1989 it is responsible for a wide range of regulatory and statutory duties including: water resources; environmental quality and pollution control; flood defence; fisheries; conservation; navigation and recreation. This NRA leaflet describes the tasks and duties of the NRA Anglian Region.
