Data Quality Statement:
This data was originally collected by Professor Gerald Sargent of the University of Queensland in Australia. Professor Sargent visited the UK to conduct these studies on two separate occasions in 1983 and 1987. The results of his surveys - along with some corresponding information - were stored in the archives of the Freshwater Biological Association. In 2015 they were digitised using a high resolution scanner, uploaded to the FBA's digital archive, and published.

Abstract:
This dataset contains correspondence relating to the seismic surveys of Lake District water bodies conducted by Professor Gerald Sargent in 1983 and 1987. It contains draft summaries and hand drawn maps of the survey transects taken on various lakes as well as hand drawn survey related tables. The correspondence refers to the scientific work undertaken but also to the need for references for Professor Sargent's tax paperwork for his trips to the UK, the letters pertaining to taxes contain information of scientific use in relation to the surveys.
