Title: Groundwater storage in British aquifers : chalk - draft final report (128/5/A)
Author: British Geological Survey
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The Chalk is the major aquifer in England, both in terms of areal extent, and of the quantity and quality of water abstracted from it. This study attempted to provide estimates of the volumes of groundwater in storage between various water levels, and between those levels, and OD. This required the computation of rock volumes, based on extensive geological information; and then the computation of the products of these volumes with storage parameters appropriate to various rock types and water-table positions. In order to validate the approach, two catchments were studied in some detail.
