Title: Field work in winter
Description: John Mackereth, (FBA chemist from 1946-1972) sampling water from an iced over tarn. Much of the research done by the Freshwater Biological Association on lakes was original so scientists had to design equipment to be used in the field, this photograph shows Mackereth using the Mackereth Oxygen Probe.
