Abstract:
The EC Designated Bathing Water at Pendower (81814989) on the south coast of Cornwall is sampled in accordance with the requirements of the EC Bathing Waters Directive (EC/76/100). A previous investigation in 1991 and a desk study conducted in 2000 identified the Came Stream as the source of bacterial contamination to the beach. Generally samples taken after or during rainfall events contained elevated numbers of indicator organisms, however this was not always the case. The objective of this document is to collate the routine bathing water and the 2000 investigations monitoring data from Pendower Beach and Came Stream, analyse for trends and recommend an appropriate course of action.
