Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This report presents the Welland and Witham Estuaries Ecological Study and Water Quality report. It is split into two parts, the first presents the Unicomarine Ecological report. A series of biological surveys was undertaken between 1989 and 1992 on the Welland and Witham estuaries, Lincolnshire. The study continues a series of studies on the Wash estuaries which began in 1982 and was undertaken in order to complete the assessment of the Wash estuaries. The water quality of both estuaries is good, although algal blooms were noted occasionally in the upper estuary in summer. These blooms are likely to result in low dissolved oxygen levels at night in the summer months when algal blooms occur. A programme of monitoring for the Wash estuaries is recommended. Part two presents the water quality in the Welland and Witham Estuaries, from 1989 to 1992.
