Abstract:
This document contains a survey report and information on remedial works of the mill Culvert and by pass culvert. The culvert runs under Mill House and the High Street in Wheathampstead. A hydraulic analysis of the existing system is given, covering general hydraulic features, hydraulic performance of the structure and stage discharge relationship. Measures are proposed to increase the hydraulic capacity and the life expectancy and maintenance are also discussed. The document also contains five appendices, the first has a number of drawings of the area, plans and outline of modifications. Appendix B contains photographs of Mill Culvert and By Pass Culvert. Appendix C has information on rating curves, appendix d is a report on preliminary structural inspection of the Bridge Mill and lastly appendix E has summary calculations of the existing situation and also the proposed modifications.
