Abstract:
The Blythe/Cole/Bourne Catchment covers part o f the West Midlands conurbation and a large part of the Birmingham Green Belt, south and east of the city. The Blythe and the Bourne are predominantly rural rivers and flow through attractive countryside, while the Cole, the major tributary of the Blythe, passes through built up areas in south Birmingham. The Blythe and the Cole rise in the south west corner o f the Catchment and flow in a north easterly direction. The Bourne rises in the east and flows in a westerly direction. The Final Plan is a strategic policy framework for the management of the catchment. It includes an action plan to achieve the vision for the Blythe/Cole/Bourne Catchment and can be read in conjunction with the Consultation Document. The action plan will form the basis for improvements to the water environment by outlining the areas of work and investment proposed by the NRA and others.
