Abstract:
This report provides the detailed background on the methods and assumptions the Environment Agency used to derive the forecasts of demand that underpin the national strategy and its supporting strategies covering the eight Agency regions of England and Wales. The Environment Agency is the statutory body with a duty to secure the proper use of water resources in England and Wales. In accordance with this duty the Agency has prepared a water resources strategy which looks some 25 years ahead. The strategy considers the needs
for water, both of the environment and of society, and examines the uncertainties about future water availability and demand.
