Abstract:
This report gives a detailed description of the Assessment Information Management System (AIMS) and the underlying CAIRS LMS software. It describes the networked AIMS system used by headquarters Agency staff. It is not for use by staff using stand-alone versions of AIMS who only need to know how to search for and retrieve information. The locations using stand-alone versions of AIMS and the procedures for producing monthly update disks for these sites are described in Section 14.5 below. The terms used within this and other AIMS reports are described in the Definition of Terms used in the Assessment Information Management System. A basic introduction to searching and information retrieval using AIMS is given in the AIMS Searching Guide.
