Title: Norfolk and Suffolk Local Flood Defence Committee annual report 1996/97
Author: Environment Agency Anglian Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The aim of the Flood Defence function is to provide effective defence for people and property against flooding from rivers and the sea, and to provide timely warning systems such that effective actions can be taken to minimise the impact of flooding. This will be achieved by undertaking works that are technically sound, economically justifiable and environmentally acceptable. This is the first annual flood defence report and accounts under the auspices of the Environment Agency summarising the works undertaken during 1996/97 in the Norfolk and Suffolk Local Flood Defence District. On 1 April 1996 the National Rivers Authority was
succeeded by the Environment Agency, which took over the NRAs flood defence role with a fundamentally unchanged operating structure.
