Abstract:
This AST report describes the visit Derek and Smart did to the Faroe Islands in 1980. The AST adopted the the role of "watch dog" to identify dangers and potential threats to Atlantic salmon, but acted also as a focal point for the collection and dissemination of new knowledge and factual information about salmon. This report is published in pursuance of this policy in an attempt to enable salmon conservationists to understand the nature and complexities of the Faroes Salmon Fishery. It provides information about physical, political, social and economic descriptions of the islands as well as the salmon fishery and salmon production data.
