West Midlands and North West England Freshwater Group

About the Group

The West Midlands and North-West England Freshwater Group is an informal group that holds a meeting twice a year at various locations around the region. The aim is to provide a forum for the exchange of information across disciplines and across the various sectors of the freshwater community, promoting awareness of current issues and research. The group started over twenty years ago and is one of the four regional freshwater groups across Britain-the geographical coverage of each group varying, depending on the availability of a voluntary convenor.

Meetings are open to anyone and are attended by academic researchers, students, consultants, professional practitioners from the water industry, government bodies and non-government organisations and others who share an interest in the freshwater environment. Normally meetings comprise a number of talks and posters but from time to time there are visits to field, experimental, or other sites of interest. Membership is free.
