The FBA is collaborating with the Environment Agency in order to make important historic data and information more visible.
The EA donated material covering the early 1960s and early 2000s to the FBA. The FBA will make sure that this data and information will be available and visible to researchers and the general public. The material deals mainly with fisheries in the North West of England, especially the Ribble, Wyre and Lune catchments. Included are historic catch statistics, habitat surveys and other aspects of mainly salmonids fisheries.
The EA and FBA identified more than 180 reports which are of historical importance. These reports are now available in the FBA Library. Furthermore, 102 reports were digitised by the FBA and are now available via the Aquatic Commons repository in full text and free of charge.
A pdf with a list of all reports and other publications coming from the EA North West, with links to full text documents, where included is available to download.
A list with publications from the EA South West can also be downloaded.
Additional EA material has been added to the Unpublished Collections, the FBA's archives. This includes texts and correspondence on fishing rights and byelaws, committee meetings, fish pass construction, and biological surveys and catchment data.
The catalogue of these holdings can be viewed via the Archives Hub
