Annual General Meeting 2019

We are holding the Annual General Meeting of the FBA at 10.00hrs on Wednesday 23 October 2019 at FBA Windermere, The Ferry Landing, Far Sawrey, Ambleside, Cumbria, UK and we would like to invite you to attend. We would be delighted to welcome members and others to this meeting. Please let know if you plan to attend, in order that we can provide sufficient refreshments. These will be served from 09.30hrs.
The meeting will cover the following business:

  1. Approve the minutes of the 89th Annual General Meeting
  2. Receive reports
  3. Receive and adopt the audited accounts for the 2018/2019 financial year
  4. To appoint elected Directors to the Board. The board proposes to elect Dr Evan Dollar as a Director, to take effect immediately and for an initial term of four years (Article 19.7)
  5. Election of a new Chair and welcome The board proposes the election of a new Chair of the Board, Dr Evan Dollar (Article 27.1). This appointment will start on 1 January 2020.
  6. Appoint Auditors and authorise the Board to determine their remuneration. Couch, Bright, King and Company have expressed their willingness to be reappointed.
  7. Any other business.

Biography of New Director to the Board, Dr Evan Dollar

Evan is Technical Director in Stantec UK’s management team. Evan led the development of the strategies for & subsequent acquisitions of ESI Consulting & Peter Brett Associates. He is currently coordinating the post-acquisition growth & sector strategies for the UK. He is also supporting country & sector growth strategies for Europe. He recently led Stantec’s International Financial Institution strategy. In parallel, he is programme director for Southern Water responsible for pollution reduction and for flooding.

Between 2017 & 2018 Evan was Technical Director & Product Line Leader for Stantec’s Water Resources team for Europe & Africa. He provided strategy & direction to the team & led complex, multi-disciplinary programmes in the UK & internationally. He has over 20 years of experience in water resources, resource efficiency & the water environment, as well as broad technical, policy & regulatory knowledge.

Recent programmes of work that Evan has led include Southern Water’s Integrated Water Cycle Management programme, the European Investment Bank’s Resource Efficiency Programme for Seychelles as well as a comprehensive & integrated sanitation plan for Seychelles. Evan has also led numerous projects for Scottish Water on water resources planning, for United Utilities on their National Environment Programme as well as for the Environment Agency & the Scottish Environment Protection Agency on drought strategy, monitoring & River Basin Management Planning. Two of these projects won industry awards, whilst another two (Seychelles & Baystone Bank) were shortlisted for awards (the Seychelles programme for the New Civil Engineer ‘Excellence in Water’ award for 2018).

Evan led the development of the South African Water Resource Classification System aimed at facilitating a balance between protection & utilisation of the Nations resources. The system was published in the South African Government Gazette in 2010 & is now binding on all authorities or institutions exercising any authority under the 1998 South African Water Act. Evan is also an invited keynote speaker at international conferences & think tanks, is widely published in international journals, has acted as examiner to numerous MSc & PhD dissertations & recently reviewed candidates for a professorship at the University of the Witwatersrand. He was involved in reviewing Defra’s water abstraction reform process
