Abstract:
Cattle slurry was applied by trailing shoe and surface broadcasting at five rates, viz: 20, 35, 50, 65 and 80 m3 ha-1, using a purpose built small-plot applicator to grassland, on a coarse sandy loam soil in autumn 2004 at a site close to North Wyke, Devon. There were 3 replicate plots (5 x 12 m) of each application treatment arranged in a randomised block design. This dataset contains measurements of soil moisture as gravimetric soil moisture content (%) taken on the same days as nitrous oxide emissions measurements were made. Measurements were made from the 35 m3/ha slurry rate and control treatments only. NA = not applicable. Soil moisture values are the mean of the measurements from the control and cattle slurry treatments. If the data file is downloaded/opened in excel, dates may appear as dd-mm-yy instead of the standard yy-mm-dd.
