Abstract:
At a grassland site near Rothamsted Research, North Wyke in south-west England (sandy clay loam topsoil texture), small field plots (5 x 12 m) were established in a randomised block design with three replicates per treatment. Cattle slurry (at 50 m3 ha-1) was surface broadcast applied to grassland in late September 2010 and in early-March 2011. A control treatment was included where no slurry was applied. In a separate treatment, the commercially available nitrification inhibitor - dicyandiamide (DCD) was pre-mixed with the slurry prior to application to give a DCD application rate of 15 kg ha-1. This dataset is of soil mineral nitrogen (SMN) values measured to 0-90 cm depth before experimental treatments were applied in autumn 2010 and spring 2011. ND = not determined.
