Description: This image shows the ensheathed needle shaped spicule of a male of the Haplonema tenerrimum species (magnification x 10). Spicules are characteristic copulatory structures of male nematodes and can be useful in distinguishing species as they differ in size, shape and number (most nematodes have 2).
