Title: North Wessex area industrial and commercial waste minimisation and recycling directory
Author: Environment Agency South West Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
Good management of waste will lead to benefits for all kinds of businesses, as well as boosting the environment. This directory has been produced to help achieve these aims. The directory - there are similar ones for Cornwall, Devon and South Wessex Areas - highlights opportunities for minimisation and recycling in industrial and commercial organisations and offers best practice advice for responsible waste management. Both local and national operators have been included in the listings. It is hoped the directory will grow in future years, building a wide network of recycling opportunities. A form has been included on page 28 to be completed and returned to the Environment Agency with details of any organisation wishing to be considered for inclusion in subsequent editions. The directory is split into two sections, is an alphabetical list of waste types with the names of operators who deal with each. The second section, starting on page 20, is an alphabetical list of all of the companies included in the directory with their contact information. Look up the waste you have, note the companies involved and then refer to the index for contact details and more information. The recycling industry faces the geographical barrier of distance between sites where waste is produced and sites where it can be reprocessed. Recycling depends upon collection networks which most recycling companies administer; however their range and regularity do vary due to economic factors. It is suggested that a phone call is the first step in order to discuss your specific needs and the service offered by a company.
