Abstract:
It is intended that this document will supplement Southern Region's Catchment Management Plans by presenting key statistics for each catchment which, when combined, summarise the Region as a whole. The combined data for the Region is presented first. This is followed by the data for the individual catchments (in alphabetical order). Generally, the Regional total represents the sum of the individual catchments. There are however a few exceptions to this in the Conservation figures. Simple maps show the catchment's major rivers, main towns and significant subcatchment resource areas. The appendix lists sources of information, clarifies terms and abbreviations and highlights points for consideration when referring to the statistics.
