Author: National Rivers Authority Welsh Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The NRA Welsh Region launched the consultation document Water For Welsh Region in February 1995. Some 1300 copies have been circulated throughout Wales, and further afield. It generated numerous written responses and substantial media interest. This Strategy now builds upon the consultation document and takes account of: the comments made by major abstractors, organisations representing water users, planning authorities, regulatory agencies and others with an interest in the water resources and water environment of the Welsh Region; recently published information on future populations and water demands; the latest water industry research and development work; the lessons learnt in Wales, and elsewhere, from the 1995 drought; recent work on the River Dee yield and the future management of the Dee resource. This Regional water resources strategy follows on from the NRA's national strategy, and forms the basis for the sustainable management of water resources for a generation.
