Abstract:
This report presents the results of an NRA Thames Region Operational Investigation undertaken by Pond Action. The study had two main objectives: (i) to describe the effect of sampling variability on biological assessments of water quality made using the
BMWP system and RIVPACS; (ii) to make a preliminary comparison of three water quality banding systems used in the European Union as part of the preparation for harmonising of water quality monitoring in the EU.
