Title: River Avon : catchment action plan
Author: National Rivers Authority South West Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The River Avon in South Devon is an important salmon river. The catchment also includes Slapton Ley which is of international importance as a field study centre and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. In recent years water quality of the river and eutrophic conditions, including development of blue-green algae, have given cause for concern in Slapton Ley. The aims of the plan are to maintain satisfactory salmonid stocks; investigate and remedy water quality problems; achieve water quality objectives and protect the catchment from environmental abuse.
