Title: Preliminary investigations into analysis of stressed bacteria
Author: T.E. Irving
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The objective of this report is to assess by review and experimentation the viable but non-culturable state of bacteria, and methods for enumeration of stressed organisms. There is concern that culture-based methods do not detect the presence in water of bacteria which, though not culturable, may nevertheless still be intact and viable, and potentially able to cause disease.
