Title: Catchment management planning : 5 year programme and timetable 1995/96
Author: National Rivers Authority
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
River catchments are the natural management unit around which the National Rivers Authority organises and carries out its day to day operations to protect, maintain and improve the environment. The NRA's predecessors have always been similarly organised. Catchment management planning is the process by which the NRA develops catchment management plans through public consultation. The process and the plans produced also have a key role in the setting of statutory Water Quality Objectives, and their contents feed in to the statutory town and country planning and development control processes of local authorities, in which we are a statutory consultee. This document is an update of one produced in June 1994, and sets out our past, current and future programme of catchment management plans. The programme has been revised to take account of progress to date and our increased knowledge of the catchment management planning process.
