This is the summary of the fifth in a series of reports on the monitoring of pesticides in the aquatic environment produced by the Environment Agency (and one of its predecessor bodies, the National Rivers Authority). It presents the 1997 data for pesticide monitoring of environmental waters. For the purposes of this report "pesticides" include agricultural and nonagricultural pesticides, sheep dip, mothproofing agents, anti-foulants and wood preservatives.
